Architecture Matters 2024
Opening

On May 15, 2024, the international conference Architecture Matters in Munich kicked off with a special highlight: a keynote by Linus Neumann, spokesperson for the Chaos Computer Club and an expert in cybersecurity. The opening event reflected the conference’s theme, “Crisis versus Crisis”, and set the stage for a diverse program addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time.

Linus Neumann’s keynote brought an unconventional perspective to the conference: while in previous years philosophers had opened the event, Neumann offered insights into the world of cyberattacks and ransom negotiations. Through humorous anecdotes and serious reflections, he illustrated how hackers target the digital infrastructures of companies and public institutions—and the far-reaching consequences for society. His talk not only sparked critical thinking about cybersecurity but also emphasized the importance of cross-industry collaboration.
