Our Mission

Architecture Matters is an international conference on the future of architecture and the city, based in Munich, and one of Europe’s leading platforms for interdisciplinary exchange.

Since 2016, it has brought together leading decision-makers from architecture, real estate, project development, finance, politics and public administration. At its core are the key questions shaping the future of European cities — from resilience and sustainability to investment logics and technological transformation.

Architecture Matters positions itself as a strategic space for dialogue for all those who take responsibility for the built environment.

It is founded on the conviction that the challenges facing our cities and the act of building today can only be addressed collectively — through genuine interest in one another, mutual respect and curiosity. To this end, we bring together key actors from architecture, project development, finance, politics and public administration — without fear of contradictions. Guided by a shared desire for vitality and resonance, we create spaces for meaningful and creative encounters.

We engage with current topics in all their complexity and depth. Our aim is to grasp the essence of things — challenging ourselves to leave familiar ground and step beyond our own comfort zones. We do so through both established and unconventional formats. Each conference is unique.

We are passionate about bringing new ideas into the world. Architecture Matters is a place for inspiration and sustainable entrepreneurship — not an ivory tower, and not a platform for quick wins. It is a community that shares common values, continues to grow, and remains curious.

Architecture Matters was founded by Nadin Heinich in 2016. The 10th edition will take place on April 15–16, 2026, at the House of Communication in Munic
