Architecture Matters is founded on the conviction that the challenges facing our cities and the built environment today can only be addressed collectively — through genuine interest in one another, mutual respect, and curiosity. To this end, we bring together the key actors from architecture, project development, finance, politics, and public administration.
Nadin Heinich is a curator, author, entrepreneur, and founder of plan A. She is fascinated by cities in all their complexity, contradictions, and intensity. Born in 1980 in Leipzig and buoyed by the spirit of optimism after the fall of the Berlin Wall, she is particularly interested in Eastern Europe. Nadin studied architecture at the Technical University and University of the Arts in Berlin and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. In 2002 she worked in Moscow for the architectural magazine Project Russia, which was dedicated to the dialogue between East and West. As part of the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative, she was honoured as one of the 100 Women of Tomorrow.
In 2016 she founded the Architecture Matters conference to foster more dialogue between the different sides that shape cities – without fear of conflict. She launched the magazine Fast Forward in 2020.
Nadin is a frequent contributor to trade journals and newspapers such as Bauwelt and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and, as a guest editor, has overseen entire thematic sections in magazines. From 2020 to 2022, she was responsible for communications for ingenhoven associates. Nadin advises architecture and real estate firms and moderates discussions on architecture and urban development, from networking events to Expo Real.
Architecture Matters is guided by a curated board that shapes the conference’s content and strategic direction. They are the people who bring the core idea of Architecture Matters to life — an open, curious and interdisciplinary dialogue on the future of architecture and the city.
Architecture Matters is driven by the team at plan A — a small, well-coordinated group of experts. We continuously develop the conference in terms of content, organisation and design, introduce new impulses, and create the framework for inspiring encounters. From the initial idea to the moment on stage: Architecture Matters is a hands-on production.
